Executive Director’s Report-Performance with a Purpose
At the Hemophilia Foundation, our promise is to encourage people to live balanced and healthier lives, by educating, supporting, and advocating for the bleeding disorder community.
This has been a good year and I am delighted for the success we have achieved and I am sure you are too.
Amid the continuing challenges of the most difficult macroeconomic environment in decades, we delivered strong operating performance. What this means to all of you is that we can continue summer camp, the family retreat and add new services and programming. We can confidently say that the Hemophilia Foundation continues to operate from a position of balance and strength.
While we focus our capabilities on fundraising, board development and programs, we also incorporate corporate character in our business plan. Ethics and growth are inseparable.
To improve on our programming and offer choices for the community, we developed a needs assessment form for you to tell us how to serve you better.
While remembering our past, we make plans for the future with your input.
A promising future starts with self infusion. To reinforce what our camp teaches our youth, we have started The Big Stick Club for campers who learned to self infuse at camp. The Club was introduced at the Family Information Day, and new members were inducted. Any youth who has learned to self infuse is eligible to join The Club. Each member may be assigned a mentor buddy, who will reinforce the importance of continuing to self infuse and to regularly see their physician. To learn more about The Big Stick Club, call our office at 323-525-0440.
For the rest of the year, we have many events and programs in which I hope you all will participate. Please remember to update your contact information with us, so you receive all of our invitations.
It has been my honor to dedicate this newsletter and our upcoming 28th Golf and Tennis Classics to the memory of Alex Rodriquez. Our theme is Swing for Smiles and Alex was the first to contribute to all of our programs that would support the happiness and a better future for our youth. Many of you know that you all meant so much to Alex, many of you were a friend of his and that Alex called the Hemophilia Foundation and community his home, which is our honor.
Warm Regards,
Linda Corrente
